Roadmap

Where we're headed.

2026 — Shipped
DiveCore 1.0

Released on the App Store — a dive computer for Apple Watch Ultra.

2026 — Now
DiveCore 1.1.x

Three plans and a refined Watch experience.

Next
AI CORE

An on-device AI platform. Coming soon.

Beyond
The next instruments

More precision software for the Apple ecosystem.

Engineering principles

Five rules, no exceptions.

01Native

Swift and SwiftUI on Apple frameworks. No cross-platform layer between you and the hardware.

02On-device

Analysis runs on your watch and phone. Nothing is sent to a server to be understood.

03Privacy

Your dive data stays on your devices and in your own iCloud.

04Precision

Built on published standards — Bühlmann ZHL-16C, DAN/UHMS guidance — and pinned by automated tests.

05Beautiful

Design is not decoration. It is how the instrument reads at depth.

Technical validation

What is tested — and what is not.

Decompression model

  • Bühlmann ZHL-16C with user-adjustable Gradient Factors.
  • 16 tissue compartments, recomputed every second from measured depth.
  • The first-stop anchor, stop schedule and time-to-surface are pinned by automated tests, so the displayed plan matches the ceiling the app enforces.

Automated test suite

  • 360 tests run on every build — 265 on watchOS, 95 on iOS.
  • Dive state machine, no-fly tiers against DAN/UHMS guidance, PADI RDP table values, freediving session contracts.
  • Each safety contract is mutation-verified: the test is proven to fail when the behaviour it protects is deliberately broken.

Sensor behaviour

  • Depth is read from the Apple Watch Ultra depth gauge, filtered and auto-zeroed at the surface.
  • The surface reference is frozen when a dive starts, so an ascent cannot re-zero the gauge.
  • Losing the depth signal holds the dive rather than ending it — the log is never silently cut short.

Known limitations

  • DiveCore is a supplementary instrument. It is not a certified dive computer and does not replace training, tables or a backup computer.
  • The tests prove the engine is consistent with its own model. They are not a clinical validation of decompression safety.
  • The dive route is a sensor-fusion estimate corrected by surface GPS — it is not underwater GPS.
  • Freediving mode runs no decompression model, and shallow water blackout cannot be detected by any wrist device.

Test counts and behaviour above describe the current App Store build. Where a limitation is listed, it is listed because it is real — we would rather you know it before the water than after.
